The Birdman

Although we have been in Germany for over a week and there is much to share all I have in this short post is a link to an iCloud journal and a few photos.

While walking just outside of le Louvre, we encountered a man feeding birds. The journal is made up of pictures I took and a journal entry that Max made. For those of you that, like me, don't know French, you could probably use google translate.

The Birdman.

Actually, while I'm on the topic, I've really enjoyed photographing birds and Thomas in particular has enjoyed feeding them. Makes for a good combination.

This was from one of the beaches of Normandy, where the Allies created an artificial port years ago. On the left you can see Marj, Max and Thomas throwing bread.

Marj was generous enough to let me use her awesome lens. For those who speak canon, it was a 70-200 f2.8 IS mk II. I had so much fun, I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

  1. One of my favourite posts. In my old age, I've become enamoured by birds. Oh to get my hands on that lens! The Birdman journal was great too. Thanks for letting this birdbrain live vicariously through your images...<3

  2. Hey Sandebits!

The Birdman journal was shot using a *much* lower priced lens. For your Nikon, you could begin negotiations with Santa and check out the Nikon AF-S VR 70-300 4.5-5.6 G IF-ED which has a good rep to back up its longish name.

In any case, I do love to shoot birds (cameras, guns seem so messy). I'll see if I can capture something a bit more exotic than seagulls and pigeons now that we are in Asia.

  3. Beautiful pictures! My little point and shoot doesn't even compare! I have to admit, the entire time I was looking through these pictures, this song was playing in my head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ae0nwSv6cTU
